What is GDPR?

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will replace the 1995 EU Data Protection Directive (European Directive 95/46/EC), with effect from 25th May 2018. The new regulation will strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Union and be enforced by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Everyone at Veritas Careers has been working hard to ensure that the services we offer to jobseekers and our clients ensure we are always working in line with GDPR and to help answer some of the questions we have been asked over the last few months we have detailed the key areas we have been working on.

The GDPR provides the following rights for individuals:

8. Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling.


Lawful basis for using personal data.

Where you have consented to our use of your personal data, or because it is in our legitimate business interests to use it. Your personal data may be used for one of the following purposes:

• Contacting you as a candidate regarding job opportunities.

• Contacting you as a client regarding available candidates, submitting candidates for job roles, arranging interviews, any other recruitment related activity.

• We will contact you with information by phone, email, or SMS.

When candidates Apply for jobs on our website, on InAutomotive, via other CVLibraray (or any other job website) or via social media, they understand that they are doing so in order to be contacted by a recruiters and prospective employers about job opportunities.


Control of your personal data

With your permission and/or where permitted by law, we may also use your personal data for marketing purposes, which may include contacting you by email and/or telephone and/or SMS message with information regarding Recruitment services.

Therefore, as a business we can continue processing the data supplied by candidates who apply, as it is in their legitimate interest to do so.

You may unsubscribe or opt-out at any time by;

• Emailing a request to kim@veritascareers.co.uk

• Reply 'STOP' to any SMS.

• Selecting 'Unsubscribe' on any of our email communications.

• Making a telephone request to any member of the Veritas Careers Team


Purposes of the processing

We assure you that your data will be used for recruitment purposes only.


Sharing Your Data

Candidate data is only transferred to prospective clients after gaining specific authorisation to do so from the candidate.

It is stored on our database and marketing systems “Zoho Recruit” and “Mailchimp”.


Will GDPR affect how I use Veritas Careers services?

We don’t believe the changes we make to ensure our compliance with GDPR will affect the services offered by Veritas Careers to our clients.

GDPR hasn’t been introduced to stop people finding work.


How long do we keep data for?

Your data will be retained for only as long as it is necessary which includes our legal obligations for retaining data. On occasions where there is a requirement to extend the retention of your data, we would be asking for your Opt-In again, if required.


Right to Complain

The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
